Who's in a band who wants to play a gig in London on November the 3rd?

I have a venue, I have a bunch of preachers, so I'm putting on a show for "Bob". We'll need about 3 bands though, ideally. Leevil has said a kinda-yes but I have to talk to his manager. We'll need more than that.

If you love "Bob", or even if you hate "Bob" or you're indifferent to him but are prepared to share a stage with him, and you have a band who play Rock and Roll or basically anything at all, especially if it's a bit odd - WE WANT YOU!

Can't guarentee huge amounts of money. Bands will probably get about 10% of the door each (depending on how many bands we end up booking). We've never done a devival here before, so heaven knows how much that'll work out to. My guess is aboout 50 to 100 quid, but if you can get loads of people to come to see you then maybe more.

Point me at your Demo!

I don't understand this by debacle (4.00 / 2) #1 Tue Sep 12, 2006 at 02:06:39 PM EST
There are so many washed up musicians in England, this shouldn't be an issue. Can't you look up Sting or Billy Idol in the phone book?

Looking for something a bit more tame, have a call to The Clash. Sure you're not going to get Joe Strummer but hey Wings had a few hits, didn't it?

Bunch of has-beens. by priestess (2.00 / 0) #2 Tue Sep 12, 2006 at 02:09:59 PM EST
We're after so up and coming nobody's ever heard of 'em or even so strange they'll never be mainstream which would probably be better.

But I don't really care. I'll be there for the preaching and can't believe finding a band has been dumped on my list of responsibilites. I mean really. I don't understand how I got volunteered for this.

What are your travel expenses? by priestess (2.00 / 0) #7 Tue Sep 12, 2006 at 02:58:47 PM EST
I mean, everyone's just working on fractions of the door-count. Even the venue are just gonna take a fraction of the door money.

Coz we have no idea what the door money might work out to be. I guess I might be able to take some gambles with my own money, but I'm as stoney as usual frankly, still not paid off that debt.

I am only joking sorry by cam (4.00 / 1) #13 Tue Sep 12, 2006 at 03:05:46 PM EST
SHMRB is not really a band. Though if it was I would pilfer from Husi's talent pool without remorse and steal the likes of Breaker, mns, TPD, VLF etc on the path to world aural domination. The Super Happy Motivated Rock Band is really an MFC creation.

SMUT is a real band that has real musicians in every instrument that know what they are doing. So 256 is probably fair dinkum.

Sure by komet (4.00 / 4) #6 Tue Sep 12, 2006 at 02:58:01 PM EST
I can play John Cage's 4'33'' as a telecommute-performance, which would have the advantage that you wouldn't have to pay my travel expenses.

We'd be there but same as 256 and crew, wrong side of the pond and no airtravel fundage so...There are some demos at the top of this page. You can blast them from the P.A. and put on a handpuppet rock show!
